We are pleased to announce that José Pilartes-Congo has joined our lab as a full-time Assistant Research Scientist. José will conduct and lead research in remote sensing, geospatial science, AI, 3D reality capture, and related technologies. As part of this role, he will help direct a new TxDOT research project focused on embedding permanent survey markers into roadway infrastructure to support repeatable 3D remote sensing data acquisition and future digital delivery workflows. As a PI or Co-PI, he will manage sponsored research projects, oversee project deliverables, and contribute to the development of new research methods, tools, and applications. He will also supervise and mentor staff and student researchers, collaborate with project sponsors and research partners, and support efforts to expand our research and funding opportunities.
