Introducing Young Students to Remote Sensing

MANTIS Assistant Director Dr. Tianxing Chu recently helped lead an instructional session introducing young students to the field of remote sensing. The session provided students with an opportunity to learn how observations collected from a distance can be used to study, map, and understand features and processes across the Earth’s surface. Introducing students to remote sensing at an early age can broaden their awareness of geospatial science and its applications to real-world challenges. The instructional session also reflected MANTIS’s commitment to educational outreach and to encouraging the next generation of scientists, engineers, and geospatial professionals.
