MANTIS Students Earn Top Honors at ASPRS Conference

MANTIS students José Pilartes-Congo and O. Esther Oladoyin received first and second place awards, respectively, at the 2026 ASPRS Gulf South Region Geospatial Conference in Thibodaux, Louisiana. José was awarded first place for his presentation, “Distinguishing True Surface Change from Measurement Error in Repeat UAS Surveys,” which addresses key challenges in accurately identifying real-world changes from noise in multi-temporal geospatial datasets, particularly in transportation settings. Esther earned second place for her presentation, “From Visualization to Surveying: 3D Scene Representations with Novel View Synthesis,” highlighting innovative approaches to 3D reconstruction and visualization using emerging techniques in computer vision. These achievements reflect the strength of research within the MANTIS Laboratory and its commitment to advancing cutting-edge methodologies in geospatial science and remote sensing. The lab congratulates both students on their outstanding accomplishments.
